Text fields that ask for athlete names will require that you select one of the autocomplete suggestions. Year of birth is also provided to help distinguish the occasional duplicate name.
Performance measure choices will generally be one of:
- FIS points
- Standardized percent behind the median skier
- Rank, i.e. finishing place
The Athlete History panel displays the results for a single skier using a particular performance measure, with trend line summaries by season, or by technique within season.
The Head to Head Comparisons panel is for comparing the performance of two skiers in those races where they have raced against each other directly. The behavior of this panel may be unpredictable if you choose to compare skiers who have never, or only very rarely, raced against each other.
The Podium Finisher Trends panel is somewhat harder to explain. It allows you to select the top k finishers in a specific race and then see their results from that point onward. For instance, you could plot the results in FIS points of the top three skiers in a particular World Junior race in 2002. Depending on the length of time since the race you choose, the graphs will look different. The older the race, the more the data are collapsed into summaries.
The database of results this is built on will be updated only monthly. So during a ski season, an athletes most recent results will not appear.
Please keep in mind that these are all very much in beta. If something seems seriously broken, please let me know.
